Partial refund of tuition fees

Payment: expected in November

Students who have received a study grant from the Autonomous Province of Bolzano can apply for a partial refund of their tuition fees.

Up to 80% of the tuition fees are reimbursed up to a maximum amount of 3,000 euros. Tuition fees below 300 euros (after the 80% has been calculated) will not be reimbursed. Partial reimbursement is possible for students enrolled at a higher education institution in the countries on the list below.

Students must contact the university or college beforehand to find out whether there is a possibility to be exempted from tuition fees, to reduce the tuition fees or to be reimbursed completely. If these options have not been granted or have only been granted in part, the partial refund can be applied for. In Italy, a reduction of tuition fees is possible at public universities (and also at some private ones) with the ISEEU declaration.

If no refund or concession is possible on the part of the university, you should have this confirmed in writing (for universities abroad).

Students of the Free University of Bozen/Bolzano and of the Conservatory "Claudio Monteverdi" do not have to fill in an online application and will automatically receive a refund of their tuition fees if they are winners of the (extra)ordinary study grant!

Students of Claudiana and PTH/STA have to fill in the online form for the reimbursement.

Necessary documents

The online application must be accompanied by the payment receipts/documents proving the expenditure:

Reimbursements include, for example, effective tuition fees, fees for final examinations, enrolment fees.

Other costs, such as stamp duties, any penalties or additional fees, interest for late payments, increased amounts incurred due to incorrect payment of tuition fees, costs for insurance, semester tickets, contributions (ÖH contribution, social, material and student union contributions) are not reimbursed.

ISEE/ISEEU Declaration

The ISEE or ISEEU (U for university) declaration indicates the student's economic situation. Income and assets are used to calculate the ISEE value, which determines the amount of tuition fees to be paid.

Only students enrolled at Italian state universities need an ISEEU. Students of private universities should contact the university to find out if it offers a possibility to reduce fees or if it offers a total exemption.

The ISEE declaration can be completed free of charge at all CAAFs (Authorized Tax Assistance Centres). Whoever fails to fill in an ISEE declaration automatically falls into the highest tuition fee bracket and therefore pays the highest amount stipulated by the university.

Students must give permission to the university to access their ISEE declaration. Usually access is granted in the restricted area. Therefore we recommend that you fill in the ISEE as soon as possible and inform yourself with the university about ISEE deadlines.
