Most students travel by train to their place of study. For the journey to Brenner in South Tyrol, you can use the Südtirolmobil U26 Pass (formerly abo+) (regional trains only, 153 euros). You can apply for the pass up until the day before your 26th birthday. There is also a monthly pass available for 21 euros. This ticket could be of interest to anyone staying in South Tyrol just for the summer or for an internship.
In Austria it is advisable to buy the Vorteilscard of the Austrian ÖBB railways, which is valid for one year. It costs 21 euros (until 26 years - Vorteilscard Jugend) or 73 euros (after 26 years - Vorteilscard Classic) and reduces the ticket price in Austria by 50%.

Alternatively it is possible to buy a six-monthly ticket for 216.80 euros. It is valid for all bus, train and tram services throughout Tyrol incl.
